Riverside Resort Urunga Wins Gold Again!

Congratulations to our friends at Riverside Resort Urunga! Winners of the Excellence in Accessible Tourism category for the second year in a row.

The team at Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga are still celebrating taking home Gold in the NSW Tourism Awards for 2021 held in a virtual gala event on the evening of Thursday evening February 3, 2022 in the categories of Excellence in Accessible Tourism and Self-Contained Accommodation, as well as being inducted into the prestigious NSW Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.

We here at Inclusive Tourism are seriously chuffed to have been part of the Accessible Tourism journey with Riverside Resort. They saw the need and the value of becoming more accessible and they’ve done it beautifully, taking occupancy rates from 55% to 73% in the space of two years. See the case study here.

Riverside is one of Club Holiday Resorts FCSWC three coastal NSW destinations in stunning Urunga “Where the rivers meet the sea” in the Bellingen Shire. The resort is a five-minute walk along the shared, accessible cycleway to the town’s boardwalk or shops, and offers 40 self-contained apartments; 21 ground-floor accessible, five wheelchair accessible, and 14 upstairs which enjoy elevated views of the Kalang River, Dorrigo mountains, or adjacent Urunga golf course.

It is the third year in a row that Riverside has won in the category of ‘Self-Contained Accommodation’ which has earned them a spot in the coveted Hall of Fame, and the second year that they have won the ‘Excellence in Accessible Tourism’ category for their commitment to delivering accessible accommodation so that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can live their best lives.

Riverside will go on to represent NSW in the ‘Self-Contained Accommodation’ category at the Australian Tourism Awards on Friday 18 March 2022, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
